"That thing...

...was not made by human hands,

and the screams it made ne'er human at all."

"A dice rent from human flesh. Witches don't play around..."

The Premise

You can gamble a good amount of things in games of chance. Money, power, and in this case: souls. Not only yours of course, you're not stupid so you gamble something that's worth a lot less. The fate of your followers' and your souls are one dice roll away from the waterways. Draw cards from your grimoire to determine whose souls are on the line during each round along with the randomly-generated, viscera-filled dice set before you.

Analyze your opponent's cards (the UPPER row of three) to determine which resources you should prioritize. Then roll! Spend your resources carefully, they'll be gone by the time the next turn begins.  Strategize if you want to go for easier targets that don't give as much soul or risk it all on going for the heavy hitters. Once you or your opponent reach 100 soul, that's when you can hit it where it hurts. Just don't be the one to get their soul taken.

Controls:

Right click to inspect/return object from inspection. Hold left click on the object and drag to see other sides of it.

Left click on the green crystal to advance through phases.

During the drafting phase, you can store on die for next round.

Use the swiping motion while holding left click on a die to generate a roll.

Try to claim the opposing soul before your own is taken! At 100 soul points (bottom right of cards) you are guaranteed to see your opponent's soul.

Known Issues:

You can pay more than you have. Whoops. Turns out the lenders for souls are quite generous. Let's just chalk it up to us trusting you to pay what you have, and call it good. Good? ;)

We're also aware the tutorial could be more robust, and differentiation between player and enemy dice and cards could be more clear. Please let us know of any major bugs in the comments so we can fix them for a post-jam update.

The post-jam update will include bugfixes, any implementation of planned jam features that got scrapped, a UX update, new sounds and music, animations and setpieces, and a rebalancing of the cards. An expansion of the game itself is not planned at this time.

Thank you for the compliments and feedback! We are in fact working on a post-jam polish patch, with a full tutorial and fixes for the unfinished/bugged mechanics, and a UX overhaul.
